It does have a smell. I'm using it for my rock/crystal collection so I don't mind. I probably wouldn't use it for tea until it was aired out. I like it, the sections are deep and it's doing what I need it to do. Not sure if the hinges are heavy duty enough for rough daily use. Be gentle with it and it should hold up. By gentle I mean open the lid but don't flip it open and let it drop/you'll weaken the hinge. The box itself is not heavy wood, bamboo is lightweight but not fragile. I will probably buy more.

This tea box is pretty, as you can see from the attached photo, and sturdy. Yes, the tea bags can lay flat OR stand up (In my picture I have them standing up). No, there was NOT any chemical odor (Or any other odor at all, for that matter). I’m really pleased with how many tea bags this box holds and how it looks on my counter. I recommend this tea box.

I was under the impression that the clear part (on the lid) was made with thick glass, but it turned out that it's just a thin & flimsy piece of plastic. I also feel like the magnet is a little too strong, it would have been nice to be able to open the box without too much effort (i.e. using just one hand).It's cheap, and I liked it just enough to not return it, but it's certainly not the quality I hoped for. If/when I need another tea box, I will try a different product:

The box is perfectly sized to fit tea bags in each section. It is quite deep, so an entire box of tea can fit in each of the eight sections. The top is plastic, but clear and smooth - it looks more expensive than the price.The wood was a bit lighter than I was expecting (but seems to match the picture in retrospect, so maybe it was just my impression).The hinges open to slightly past 90 degrees, so the lid can rest either open or closed. There are small magnets to keep the lid closed when the box is not in use - just a little extra security.This would be beautiful for home use (my purpose) or restaurant use.Very happy with my purchase.

This tea box is wonderful, and it serves my needs rather well, however... I wish that it was about a half an inch deeper, to accommodate slightly taller tea bags. I also with that each slot was about a half an inch wider to accommodate wider tea bags that will not fit properly (such as Taylor's for example) which would also mean the box itself would need to be made about 2 inches longer. Not a major flaw, which is why I only bumped it down to 4 stars.The build quality is great, and it still helps me keep most of my tea organized.

I'm using the box for its intended purpose...holding an assortment of teas. It is particularly helpful when guests are over...no more searching several shelves and places and looking in plastic bags. The plastic insert in the lid could be a little more sturdy, but it doesn't get pulled out that often or by young children, so I believe it will hold up nicely.

This box is as described and arrived intact. It was securely wrapped in bubble wrap and the clear plastic part was covered in a film. The box isn't heavy and seems pretty light weight. It is exactly as pictured. It has a nice natural stain and a smooth finish. I deducted one star because the kid will not close flush if the tea bags are standing up. You could lay them down but I have filled this box up to it's full capacity. Because some of the boxes of tea I have will take up more than one compartment, I have two different teas in one compartment. Because of this I have to have them standing up to get the most tea bags in there and so I can see the flavors. I have a wide range of brands but the brands that seem to be keeping the box from closing completely flush are Stash and Bigelow. You could put a little locking mechanism to latch it closed if you wanted. It's a small gripe and not that big of a deal but I thought I'd put it in my review. I would definitely repurchase this item again.

Update: Excellent customer service, exceeded my expectations!Prior review:Don't know if the problem was from the factory or the shipping. I'm guessing it didn't happen in shipping because the box wasn't damaged. I'm very disappointed that a brand new product would have a gouge in it. Quality control obviously isn't the best. Other than the damage, I like the box a lot. Guess I'll just have to live with it. Return shipping is such a pain in the butt.

Honestly, the oddest and best household organizational task of all during the pandemic. Having a nice neatly organized array of tea is just wonderful. I think anyone who enjoys tea needs a bamboo tea box. You willnot regret the time spent clearing out the boxes and organizing your tea bags.

OK, I have complained bitterly about Warehouse today on my reviews. But this is one of the purchases from them that worked out. It is beautiful, better than the picture. It works fantastic. I use it as a catch all for crafts.I had been looking for a tacklebox, saw this and am very happy with result. Deep cubbies in there. Can see everything. Looks neat and clean. Showed up in one piece. Great price. Warehouse win:)

It does look like the photo from a distance, but up close you will see poor craftsmanship. The lid was shorter than the length of the box itself and I now notice it every time I look at it. Also the inner height of each tea bag compartment should have been about an 1/8" higher because some of my tea sachets contact the lid and prevent it from closing unless I press down on the lid and that will curl over the tops of the tea sachets.

I was excited to get this Tea Box and fill it with all my varieties of tea that were taking up so much space in my pantry. I have 107 tea bags in my box with 15 different varieties of tea with room for probably another 20 bags. Trader Joe's, Leaves pure teas, Twinings and Lipton all fit perfectly. Tazo, Stash, Bigelow, and Wonderland tea bags are all too big and the top won't latch to the magnetic lid no matter how much you smash it down or fan out the bags. Quite disappointing. Also as a side note, getting the plastic off the lid was a lesson in patience and there is still some stuck in the corners, perhaps some Zen tea before you attempt it.

I am really enjoying this great tea caddy/box. It looks beautiful on the countertop, the tiny magnets keep the lid secured, and the lid stays propped open nicely while selecting a tea bag. Very satisfied, and I purchased this particular tea box on recommendation of a friend who owns the same one. Good job, Oceanstar!

The build quality is poor. Ours arrived with the back panel separating from the rest of the box. Apparently it's all put together with tiny nails, without dovetailing or glue. The nails are completely inadequate as a fastener for a box like this; even small threaded screws of an appropriate size and color would be acceptable. Just to be clear, the packaging was fine; this is definitely a problem with design/construction. I went ahead and pulled the nails and glued the back panel on...fingers crossed. Also, the transparent cover appears to be a thin film rather than a solid sheet of poly-carbonate the same thickness as the dividers, as one might expect.

Of all the different brands of tea I have, only one would fit in the tea box standing up. Even Yogi or Tazo have to be laid in facing up, which is not ideal if you have many different teas and want to be able to see all the flavors you have like I do. They can also be put in on their side but also difficult for selecting a flavor. My Numi teas will not fit at all. This tea box is really only for people who drink Lipton or only have a few flavors.
